Back to Schoool 2016

That’s it, the vacation is over!

Extensive Cardamon Plantation at my village
I have been away; back with lots of official and personal works and I didn’t have even time to open my blog page, and sorry to say about others. There were many things that kept me busy. Firstly, I went to my village for almost two weeks to work on my cardamom plantation. I was happy to see three or more new plants sprouting from a plant. Then I had class ten evaluations for fourteen days in Phuntsholing. And it was hectic, as every person had to correct almost a thousand papers. That really kept me tight and sleepy. After this, I went to Gelephu to stay for few days with my family.

Then I had a school health coordinators workshop in Phuntsholing. For six days, we were oriented on some basic health services. And then, Losar abruptly emerged near the door, and we had ‘bang’ Losar in Gelephu.

Now that February is officially here, we have to face the ugly truth  — the winter has almost ended and it’s time to be in school! By now, I have come up with drunken dreams, terrified hopes to change, or new hopes and all those freshness over the break.

Just a few days ago, I have been constructing a website for my school, and it’s almost done. Here is the link: http://darlamssedu.blogspot.com/

Wish you all the best and back to school!!!

TA/DA Rush

Teachers outnumbered civil servants in Bhutan. So, when small opportunities like invigilator duty come, there is a rush.  We had a selection for invigilation last time, and it was lots of hullaballoo. Everyone wanted to go - when it was time for getting, but when it was time for work, nobody wanted to do. This is the nature of humans and the nature of (especially) Bhutanese.

I didn’t go for almost seven years, and when I tell them, they have many reasons. I have my say too – many, in fact, but they wouldn’t listen to my stand, I know. I remain silent. And it is better, everywhere. To voice a voice is different here. One is treated like a bad criminal. SHIT!

There were some criteria, and these criteria are meant for breaking. Only a few follows, and most of the time they were broken by the heads. There were some teachers who got even if they didn’t qualify for any criteria. Within the same year they went out with lots of TA/DA, but that same teacher qualified for the game. I don’t understand if it’s due to their sycophancies or some sort. And it’s unfair.

I have observed that opinions and suggestions are never respected. They are taken as negatives and often sailing against the current. I only feel if an opinion either respected in the western countries. But here, it is taken as aggressive, and negatives, and looked down. I feel, to improve and better our relationships, it’s very important to listen to others. BUT who listens. EEERRRR!

Chorten in Darla MSS - A Tribute to His Majesty

The significance of Chorten, known as stupa is said to be abundant; it not only takes one closer to heaven but also protects one from any kind of evils. The idea of this chorten construction came to us as a surprise. In the beginning, and everyone thought, constructing this kind of small monument is a very easy and effortless kind of work. But, when the construction begins, it came to be a huge work and incurs lots of money. So, the coordinators count on every one of us-staff, and we were told that nu. 1000/ (One thousand) will be deducted every month.  For two months then we have collected. Not only that, every student in the school was requested to donate any amount for the chorten. They also sent many letters of contribution to many localities and people. So, when the budget presentation was done in one of the meetings, the budget has amounted to almost 2 lakhs. The contribution and donation didn’t stop coming. There were contributions of both cash and kind.

I really appreciated the man behind this chorten. He is a thorough spiritual person. He is Mr. Ugyen Wangdi. He really worked hard to complete the chorten so that the school wanted to consecrate on 11th November coinciding with the HM, the fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. We dedicate this chorten for his long and peaceful life. and it was truly completed on 11th November. Here is the picture story of the chorten.
